Course Closed

From 2nd April onwards the course will remain closed till the Head Greenkeeper and Greens Convenor decide to re-open. We are apparently a club full of green keepers with the decision to close the course being disputed by some members. Can I please add my backing to the Head Greenkeeper and Greens Convenor when I tell you the course looks great but is currently “Floating” on top of a water table that has seen records amount of rainfall this year. Nobody wants to close the course because we lose revenue but I would rather miss cutting up the course in the rain in order to have a better course when the sun eventually decides to shine for more than an hour or two.

Course fully open!

For those aged and infirm like myself the course is now open to Buggies and Trolleys. With this weekends weather forecast can I suggest dog sleds and snow ploughs as a better alternative.

COURSE OPEN BUT NO TROLLEYS OR BUGGIES

At last the weather is changing and we are able to use the course though a ban still remains on buggies or trolleys.
I have heard that there have been some complaining that Cambuslang has been shut while Kirkhill and Cathkin have been open. I do not want to insult these peoples intelligence but that is like saying the beach is wet while the hills are dry. There is a reason SEPA say we are in a flood plain with the Clyde so close while Kirkhill and Cathkin are well above the water table.
The same people will no doubt ask why no trolleys or buggies as they have wide wheels which distribute the weight. The reason is that a wheel is in constant contact with the ground and leaves lines. Foot prints are spaced so have more chance of recovery. Can I tell you we are not even letting the tractor on the course due to the grass being torn.
Welcome back to playing!

55th Annual Cambuslang Golf Club Burns Supper.

The 55th Annual Golf Club Burns Supper will be held within the Clubhouse on Friday 26th February 2016 at 7pm for 7.30.

Following the great success and packed hall from last years “Easter Burns Supper” we expect tickets sales this year to be hotter than a wasabi and jalapeno sandwich. I advise you to book your tickets at £15 now before you have to pay thousands for them on Ticketmaster closer to the time.

The booking list is on the noticeboard as you enter the top corridor.

I look forward to seeing you on the night.
